John Dakin

John Dakin Chair and Non-Executive Director

John is a Goodman Group Executive and a Non-executive Director of the Goodman (NZ) Limited Board. Up until 31 December 2022 he was the Chief Executive Officer NZ, a position he held for 19 years. Under John’s leadership, Goodman Property Trust has evolved into New Zealand’s leading logistics and warehouse investor and developer. He is a member of the Goodman Group Operations Committee, a Member of its Sustainability and Innovation Committee and a Director of the Goodman Foundation Board

John was appointed Chair on 29 May 2023.

David Gibson

David Gibson Deputy Chair and Independent Director

David is a professional director and investor. His current directorships include Freightways Limited, NZME Limited and Rangatira Limited while his private interests include Harker Herbals and Jess’s Underground Kitchen. David has over 20 years’ investment banking experience having held senior positions and governance roles with Deutsche Craigs and Deutsche Bank, in New Zealand. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Canterbury.

David was appointed Deputy Chair on 29 May 2023.

Laurissa Cooney

Laurissa Cooney Independent Director

Laurissa is a professional director. Her current directorships include Accordant Group Limited, Air New Zealand Limited, Aotearoa Circle, Ngai Tai ki Tamaki and The Tourism ITP:Environment where she is also the Chair. Prior to these governance roles she was Chief Financial Officer of Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi. Her professional career has also included senior auditing and consulting roles with Deloitte. She holds a Bachelor of Management Studies (Hons) from Waikato University, is a Fellow of the Charted Accountants Australia and New Zealand and a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors. Laurissa holds a role as a Steering Committee Member for the Institute of Directors Chapter Zero Committee.
Leonie Freeman

Leonie Freeman Independent Director

Leonie is the CEO of the Property Council. Prior to this she has been an entrepreneur, business futurist and speaker who has broad experience across a range of property disciplines having held senior development, property management, strategic and education roles. Her 25-year career has also included advisory positions with local and central government. Leonie holds a Masters of Commerce (Hons) and has previously held board positions with the New Zealand Institute of Valuers, the Massey University Property Foundation and Government Property Services.
Gregory Goodman

Gregory Goodman Non-executive Director

Gregory is the Chief Executive Officer of Goodman Group and is responsible for Goodman’s overall operations and the implementation of its strategic plan. He has over 30 years of experience in the property industry with significant expertise in the industrial property arena. Gregory was a co-founder of Goodman, playing an integral role in establishing its specialist global position in the property market through various corporate transactions, including takeovers, mergers and acquisitions. He is a director and/or a representative on other subsidiaries, management companies and partnerships of the Goodman Group.

Phil Pryke

Phillip Pryke Non-executive Director

Phil is a Director of Goodman Group and a Director of Carbine Aginvest Ltd. His previous Roles include former deputy chair of Contact Energy Ltd, Vice President of EDS, Chief Executive of Nextgen Networks, Chief Executive Officer of Lucent Technologies Australia Pty Limited and New Zealand Health Funding Authority and a Member of the Treaty of Waitangi Fisheries Commission.

Phil is retiring as a director on 30 September 2023.

Keith Smith

Keith Smith Independent Director

Keith is a professional director. He was previously a partner in the Chartered Accountancy practice of BDO. Keith is a Director of Sky Network Television Limited. Keith also holds board positions for a number of private companies in the motor vehicle, finance and health industries, and is a past President of the Chartered Accountants Australia New Zealand.

After leading the Board for 13 years Keith stepped down as Chair on 29 May 2023.
